Mod Team

Bazi [captaineldritch] — Finance & Production Mod
Hello, hello! I'm a huge fan of all things shiny and tarot, so am very hyped for this project. I've modded 8+ zines/tarot projects and can't wait to bring this deck into being too!
Zanna [Zannolin] — Social Media Mod
I am and have been mod and contributor for various zines and tarot projects prior to this one. I’ve come to love tarot and the DreamSMP holds a special place in my heart, so I’m thrilled to see this project come to life.
Ly [lycheeon] — Graphic Design Mod
I’ve been around the zine/event scene for about 3 years as a mod and a writer, and have read tarot around the same. As a big DSMP and tarot enthusiast I’m super excited and cannot wait to see this deck come together.
Nightshade [fallen-angel-nightshade] — Shipping Mod
Hello! I've been a mod for several events, contributor and shipping mod for 6+ zines. I can't wait to work with everyone and I look forward to this project!
Griff [griffther] — Organizational Mod
I’ve modded for a few zines and projects before and am very excited to mod for this one as well! I’ve been into MCYT for almost a year now and have had a casual interest in tarot for a long time now. I can’t wait to make this project the best it can be!

Frequently Asked Questions

When will my order ship?We are currently packing and shipping out orders. There have been several outside issues including sickness and family emergencies that have slowed us down, but we are working on sending out international orders before we move on to US ones. Please check our socials for the latest updates on production and shipping. When will PDFs go out?UPDATE: As of April 2023, all PDF orders have been delivered. Digital sales are subject to the same shipping schedule as physical orders. Digital sales will be sent only AFTER all physical pre-orders have shipped out unless announced otherwise on Twitter. A link to download digital goods will be emailed to the provided email address. Digital goods are for personal use only and not for distribution.I missed preorders! Can I still order something? You can preorder a PDF from our shop or you can wait until we have finished production, shipping of preorders, and inventory in order to buy anything we might have left over when we reopen our shop with limited stock. We will not be having a second round of preorders, and you cannot purchase physical bundles while we are in production. If you didn't hear about us in time, we're very sorry, but unfortunately cannot do anything about that. Can I make changes to my order/address? How do I do so?Please contact us via the store contact form or our email and include your order number and new address. If you don't know your order number, let us know the name and email the item was ordered under. If you don't yet know your address and would like us to hold your package until you have it, we can do that; just let us know. Are you a zine? No; we are a tarot project, meaning we will be producing a physical tarot deck and accompanying guidebook, as well as (hopefully) custom merch. We share many similarities with a zine project, but we are not actually a zine. Why are you making a tarot deck about real people? For those of you who don’t know, the DreamSMP is a collaborative roleplay that takes place on a private Minecraft server, similar to a DND campaign. All cards, descriptions, and merch are based off of the characters that the content creators are playing in their story, not the content creators themselves!Who will appear in the deck? All card subjects were decided and finalized during May-July 2021, so while we have most of the DSMP cast, we don't have everyone, notably ConnorEatsPants (who asked his character be excluded), people who were not heavily involved in the lore at the time of subject assignment enough to fit a card, SMP guests, and people who had not yet been whitelisted on the SMP when we decided the subjects and reached out to CCs about our project to make sure it abided by personal boundaries. The complete list of whitelisted non-guest members who will not appear in our deck is Drista, ItsAlyssa, Callahan, ConnorEatsPants, Hbomb94, Vikkstar123, Lazarbeam, CorpseHusband, Michaelmcchill, ErynStreams, TinaKitten, BoomerNA, Seapeekay, and Aimsey.Where will the profit go?This is a for-charity project, both out of respect for the CCs of the Dream SMP and by preference the mods. All proceeds from the sale of the packs of cards leftover after production, shipping, and hopefully producing contributor copies will go the Sarcoma Foundation of America, in honor of Technoblade. What is the schedule for this project? You can find our projected schedule on the "schedule" page. If you are considering applying, please go over the schedule carefully to ensure you will be able to meet the set deadlines. Missing multiple deadlines is basis for expulsion from the project. Is this project SFW?This project is absolutely SFW. This is in accordance with CC boundaries. While some CCs on the SMP might be comfortable with sexualization, not all are, and neither are the mods comfortable with running a project consisting of that kind of content. Due to the subjects of some of the cards (i.e. major character death, etc) there might be blood or injury depicted, but there will be no nudity or sexual content present, full stop. People who have created NSFW or otherwise boundary-breaking art of CCs will not be allowed into the project. If it comes to light that a contributor has created such content, they will be immediately expelled. How many cards will there be?We hope to produce a full tarot deck, meaning all 78 cards consisting of the Major and Minor Arcanas, as well as a guidebook with card descriptions. This currently depends on the results of our interest check. How many contributors will you accept? The amount of card artists we accept will depend on the amount of people who apply and how many cards each person is willing to do (up to three max) and the judging process. We will likely have around 4-8 writers and 3-5 merch artists, capping our contributors around 60.How will contributors be compensated?Due to the charity nature of this project, contributors will not be receiving any financial compensation. However, merch artists will all receive physical copies of any merch they design, and all contributors will at least receive a digital copy of the deck and guidebook. Depending on sales we should be able to supply each contributor with a physical deck, guidebook, and hopefully all merch as well. Please note that in order to receive this compensation, contributors must fill out a form with a shipping address. We cannot send you a deck if you can’t give us a place to send it.How old do I have to be to apply?Applicants must be at least 14 years of age or older. This is non-negotiable. We recognize that there are a great deal of incredible young artists in this fandom, but the mods are not comfortable involving anyone younger than 14 in a long-term project such as this one.How will you judge applications?Applicants will not be judged based on popularity or renown within the fandom. All applications will be judged based on the quality of the samples provided, not on perceived clout or success. It is likely popular artists or writers will be accepted if they apply, but it will be entirely based on their content.Who will be on the cards? Do we get to choose? All card subjects have already been decided, so no, contributors will not get to choose who goes on what card. We’re keeping the details under wraps for now, as we don’t want to spoil the surprise, but keep an eye out for hints, news, and previews closer to preorders! Why won’t you tell us who will be on the cards? This is a limited-run project and we prefer to keep details under wraps so customers will be receiving the exclusive content they paid for. Mods Zanna and Ly have also spent a great deal of time carefully assigning characters and events of the SMP storyline to cards based on their meaning, and we would like to avoid people attempting to convince us to change card subjects based on their personal preferences. During the course of the project, we may choose to reveal one or two card subjects in community engagement posts, but for now, you’ll have to wait until card previews. Will I be able to pick what card(s) I illustrate if I’m accepted?Contributors will be given access to the full card subject list upon acceptance and everyone will submit their top choices for what they want to illustrate as well as any cards they are not willing to illustrate, and the mods will use an algorithm to assign cards fairly based on this data. Contributors may not receive their first choices, but they will not be asked to illustrate anything they explicitly do not want to draw. What is a concept check-in and why is it required?A concept check-in, in this case, is when card artists submit around three thumbnails of rough sketches for what they want their card to look like. The mods will look over the thumbnails and choose the one with the strongest composition and approve it for the artist to work on. We have this for two reasons! First, it helps create a more cohesive deck. When you have lots of different artists working on a project, similar composition matters more than you think it does. Second, the mods have experience with tarot, both as readers, artists, and modding previous projects, so the check-in helps us assist artists who might not know much about tarot. We can help them ensure they’re using proper tarot symbolism for their cards. It may seem like we’re being restricting on creativity, but artists still have quite a lot of freedom to create their concepts, and we will be taking their preferences into account when selecting thumbnails for them to work on.Can I apply for multiple positions?Yes, you may apply for multiple positions (such as artist and writer, merch artist and artist, etc) but if you are accepted, you will most likely only be accepted for one position, depending on the number and quality of applicants. We would like to be able to accept as many people as possible due to the volume of the deck.Do I need DSMP samples to apply?DreamSMP art is encouraged but not required when submitting artist applications. At least one sample will be required for writer applications. More application guidelines will be released closer to when we open apps, so keep an eye out!Do you ship worldwide? For the most part, we will be shipping worldwide, hopefully without too many COVID complications. Unfortunately we are unable to ship to Russia and Ukraine at this time. How much will the deck cost?Prices will be set and announced closer to preorders.I can’t reach you through Tumblr DMs.Our tumblr has been set up so all the mods can access it, which means it cannot be direct messaged. If you need to reach us, please consider sending us an ask, an email, or a CuriousCat ask! Please note that if you send hate in any form, we will not be answering it.
